Il Great Blue Hole è una formazione naturale a circa 60 miglia (111 km) dal Belize, in America Centrale. È una grotta calcarea di circolare larga 400 metri e profonda 145. Si è formata durante l’ultima era Glaciale, quando il livello delle acque era molto più basso di quello attuale. Quando l’oceano tornò a crescere la grotta si riempi di acqua e il suo tetto crollò, dando origine a un pozzo sommerso, le cui pareti sono ricoperte da stalattiti lunghe fino a 12 metri.
